IT’S COMING: Parrot Product Launch Coming in June 2018

Parrot is launching a new product in June, according to a countdown on the company’s website. All we know so far is “It’s coming”. The only clue we have so far is in the image displayed on the Parrot website, which appears to show LED lights as a battery takes charge.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a new drone to look forward to from Parrot. Recently the company has shifted its focus from the consumer market, repurposing both its Bebop 2 and the fixed-wing Disco for commercial purposes.The last major product announcement from Parrot was arguably the Bebop 2 Power, an upgrade of the original 2015 Bebop 2.

The only clue we have so far is in the image displayed on the Parrot website, which appears to show LED lights as a battery takes charge. Not much to go on then. It’s difficult to speculate over where Parrot will head next with its latest drone. A Bebop 3 is possible. As interesting a product as the Disco was, there might not be much of a market for a new iteration of the fixed-wing drone.

However, we could be in for a surprise. To date, none of Parrot’s drones have had obstacle avoidance systems built in or 4K video recording. Maybe this is the time for the French manufacturer to step up and take a serious chunk out of DJI’s aerial photography and commercial drone hardware dominance.
