Yes, we know – it’s 2015, the year Marty jumped to in Back to the Future 2 and you still don’t have a hoverboard. Right on time, Lexus has presented the latest example from it’s “Amazing in Motion” series of video spectacles: the Lexus Hoverboard.
So, Lexus’s project team has collaborated with “experts in superconductive technology” to build an actual, working, real-life hoverboard. No joke.
Apparently the team is using magnetic levitation with liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductors and permanent magnets to “give the hoverboard frictionless movement of a kind that had been thought impossible”.
Impossible? Not unless you’ve watched Back to the Future II several times. Watch this space for more developments. Definitely a Yuppie Gadget!
